Tuula Jusélius and Seppo Koho started their joint venture in the mid-1990s, which now specializes exclusively in the design and manufacture of lamps. Initially, they came up with solid wood furniture, but since they could not find any lamps on the market that would fit them perfectly, they came up with a self-developed wooden product. Debuting in 1999, the innovative material use and unique design of the conical Secto 4200 immediately caught the attention of the industry and has been so successful that the brand has focused exclusively on lamp design since 2002. Today, a total of 27 models are included in their portfolio, including pendant, floor, wall and reading lamps, all of which bear traces of the character and ‘evolution’ of the debut piece. Not only are the lamps popular for their distinctive curved contours, but their tactile warm wood finish, handcrafted workmanship and thoughtful details also contribute to them having become well-known designs. Each item is made exclusively from birch sourced locally and sustainably, and is crafted by trained carpenters in Heinola, Finland. One of the founders, Seppo Koho, is responsible for product development and as an architect he is committed to clear structure and minimalist solutions. He aims to create harmonious products with timeless designs that can be paired with a wide variety of interior design styles and perform just as well in a home or work environment as in restaurants or even hotels.
